2 Minutes Reflection

Here is My groups Google Doc.

Here is My groups First Draft for our 2 minutes to make a difference.

Here us MY groups Final Version for our 2 minutes to make a difference.

In our final draft we changes a lot of information and pictures. Some pictures we took out were the ones that we think that doesn't connect to our topic. Some information we added on our Final Version is by saying what children in child labor don't have for example like child labor don't get any NO freedom and NO fun.

My group did not find a expert, but we tried to find one by sending a message to Unicef and other societies. Mostly all the groups that we sent a message too, all they said was we are too busy.

One of our greatest moments of working on this project was raising money, my group and I raised up to one hundred dollars! By just selling cupcakes and asking people for some donations. Our goal was to get about two hundred dollars but we raised enough.

The most frustrating moment was trying to find out information and trying to get a expert. Finding the information was really hard because we had to go to so many websites and we would find wrong information. Some strategies we used to find the information was to ask the teacher how to be get good information.

Doing this project is important to Grade eight students because we can spread the word around and we can help the people who need help. People are out there struggling and we don't even do anything so we have to spread the word around. I will make a difference by giving away my clothes and toys that I don't need anymore and give it to organizations that need help.

Kristel's 2 Minutes 2011 Reflection

First Draft

Final Draft

The changes we've made to make our final draft is added more information about suggestions you could do to make a difference and we talked more about what we did. We also made our slides longer so people could read what we wrote on our slides without having to rush. More pictures were included and we made our fonts all the same on our slides so it wouldn't be distracting.

My group and I didn't find an expert although we tried several times. We phone World Vision and a lady answered and told to phone the next day in the afternoon. So, when that day came we phoned them but no one answered this time. We kept trying to phone the days after but we had no luck. Then, we tried phoning other organizations but no one seemed to be picking their phone up.

The greatest success of our project is raising the amount of money we did in little time. We raise $150.00 in about 45 minutes. We wanted to stay longer but we were no longer allowed to raise money so we had to leave. Skills that I will take away with me into the future is knowing how to raise money and giving it to organizations that will help people in need.

The things that frustrated me the most was not being able to find an expert, finding pictures that matched what we were talking about and editing our final product. To be successful, we all worked on our project together everyday making it the best it could be. The two people that knew how to edit our video, edited the video and the other two people looked for more pictures and tried phoning other organizations. It worked out well and we got through things easier without having to stress that much.

This Two Minutes project is important to us grade 8 students because we want to help those in need. We know that there are so many people out there that have it way worse than us. We want to show others that a difference can be made and we want to encourage other people to make a difference. Doing this project will also spread word around about the issues happening in our world and telling people how it should change. In the future, to make a difference I will donate clothes and money to organizations helping those in need. I will make people aware of certain things happening.

Nils' Two Minutes to Make a Difference Reflection

1.

2. Some of the changes between our first draft and our final copy is that we corrected all the spelling mistakes in the first draft. We had quite a few (even in our title) and they were noticeable so that was a major fix. Another change we made was the decision to add more pictures to our movie. Giving the viewer a visual of the problem was a goal of our group and that is why we included more pictures.

3. We found our expert by phoning one of my dad's business friends who was a journalist and had many contacts in groups such as the Humane Society. he set us up to talk with the WHS and that is how we got to talk to the animal intake manager of the Humane Society.

4. Not Applicable

5.Our greatest success in our project was our ability to work together and plan out how we were going to get information and contacts so that we can complete our project on time.

6.One of the most frustrating parts of the process was actually making the movie. I am not very good with computers and Windows Movie Maker is a very confusing program for me. I solved this problem by using the all powerful Internet to assist me. I used a help site to help me with the problems and because of that help I could make my movie.

7. The 2 minutes project is important because it can inspire lazy teenagers (grade eights) to actually do some good in this world.

8. I will make a difference in the world by volunteering at a Humane Society when I'm 16 uears old.

2 Minutes 2011 Reflecion

Google Docs:

My group's first version of our Two Minutes Video:

My group's final draft:

My group and I improved our video by makng our slides stay on longer so that we could reach the time needed for the video. We also added some pictures and fixed our credits at the end and included all the websites that we used. We decided to talk more about ways that people can go out and make a difference. Another thing we did is add a thought provoking question to get the audience thinking. I think that the student comments were helpful because by seeing what my peers had to say, their thoughts, and opinions, it made us realize the different ways we could improve our video.

We did not include an expert in our video simply because we weren't able to contact anyone. We found some possible experts but when we tried to call them, they didn't answer. We actually talked to someone from World Vision and they told us to call them back in the evening, which we did. However, when we called them, no one answered.

My group's greatest success was the fact that we raised a total of $150 in donations. We were at Superstore for less than an hour, and I'm very surprised that we raised so much! We even got donations from former Sargent Park Students and we met many new people. The skills that I was able to take from this project was making sure I met a due date. There was so much to do with this project in so little time. With the help of my group, we were able to have a finished product that is better than we could ever imagine.

What frustrated me in the movie making process was finding pictures, the editing, finding an expert and the fact that my group didn't always cooperate. We had to try to make sure that all our pictures were from creative commons and were related to our topic. This was difficult because there weren't that many pictures that had to do with our topic. The editing was frustrating because iMovie was sometimes difficult to work with and hard to use. My group and I got together everyday to try to find an expert but sadly, we weren't able to contact any. My group and I didn't always cooperate because we all had our own strong opinions. However in the end, we learned to work together as a team. The main strategy my group and I used was not giving up. No matter how much work we had to do to complete the video, how long we had to stay up, how much research we had to do, we never gave up. We wanted to make the video the est we could and because of this, we were successful.

This project is important to Grade 8 students because by researching about our topic, we we able to learn about the different ways we can go out and make a difference in the world. We were also able to show our knowledge of our topic by putting a video together and sharing it with our fellow grade 8 students.

To make a difference in the future, I will volunteer at places such as Winnipeg Harvest who help the less fortunate. I will also donate money to organizations like Siloam Mission. Another thing I will like to do is try to make people more aware of the different issues around the world.

2 minutes 2011 Reflection

This is our outline before we created our video

This is our first draft of our 2 minutes video

This is the final version of our video. What we did to improve our video was we made the slides stay longer on the screen for people to read better and so that we could reach the given time since we were under 2 minutes. The comments really helped us with improving our final draft so we kew what we needed to do to make the video better. We contacted a couple people but none of them got back to us before we could start our video. I think my groups greatest success was raising money. We raised $150.00 in almost an hour. The skills that I would take and use in the future would be helping with issues in the world and to get other people involved. What was frustrating about making our movie was finding pictures about our topic because there wasn't many pictures that could help us. We also wanted to find pictures that would make the viewers stop and actually think about the cause in Africa. The strategies we used to become successful were that we never gave up. We wanted to make our video the best it can be, so we would always get together and tell each other what we liked and what should change. We also put ourselves in the audiences positions and say what THEY would think when watching. What's important is that it's a big part of our grade and it's also to show other people that we can help and make a difference. In the future I will make a difference by always remembering that some people have it way worse than we do. Some don't get to experience what other people do. And so, I will help by donating to people that are fundraising.

Richard's Pay it Forward

Part 1

What i think paying it forward means is doing an act of kindness knowing that you wouldn't . Doing an act of kindness for someone can make you the next one to be treated good. Doing act of kindness for someone else will know how to do something good for someone else so then bring them to paying it forward.

Part 2

My groups way of paying it forward was to donate and volenteer at the Winnipeg Harvest and Write letters to soldiers, but we couldn't go to Winnipeg Harvest because they didn't call us, telling my group when we were allowed to go there. So we just wrote letters to soldiers in Afganistan. We did an act of kindness for someone on Dec 17th

Part 3

Our plan worked out. Everyone in the group there jobs and helped each other out. I felt good that i wrote letters to soldiers to support them. We didn't ask soldiers to pay it forward because the soldiers already did.

Part 4

The reason for paying it forward is important because it makes everyone happy and makes some people do good things to other people which made people to pay it forward. My group all think our plan worked because it showed them how to do something good to someone.

Errol's Pay It Forward

Part 1 : What's Pay it Forward
Pay it Forward is an act of kindness that you do and expect nothing in return. Pay it Forward came from a movie called Pay it Forward. The movie was about a boy named Trevor who thinks of the idea for a project, as he tries to change the world.

Part 2
My Pay It Forward act of kindness was to write a letter to a Canadian Soldier to thank him or her.
I chose to do this project because I want to thank the soldier for what he or she's done and to try to make them happy. I wrote the letter to any Canadian soldier. I did my act of kindness on December 18 and 19. I wrote the letter on the 18th and mailed the letter on the 19th.

Part 3
I felt good about thanking someone who is important or did something important. I did not ask the soldier to Pay it Forward because I think they already are Paying it Forward. They're already risking their lives to help the country to keep safe and so people can have freedom.

Part 4
I think the idea of Pay it Forward is important because it will teach people to do nice things and do them without anything in return. This will also make a nicer world. I don't think my act of kindness made a big difference but maybe just a small difference in one soldier's life.

Jocelle's Pay it Forward

Part 1 :

Pay it forward, is doing something nice for 3 people. Those 3 people you have helped/ done something nice for will help another 3 people. It will branch out and the numbers of people you have helped gets bigger and bigger.

Part 2:

For my Pay it Forward project my group, Kristel Aguason, Melanie Ilagan, Allison Manuel and I raised money for Siloam Mission. From Monday to Friday we went around Sargent Park School asking for donations and on Saturday we went to Superstore. In return we gave them candy canes and chocolate to thank them for their kindness in donating to a good cause. We decided to do this so we can help other people who don’t have all their needs met.

Part 3:

While at school we collected around $42. My group and I didn’t think it was much since our goal was $100. While we were at Super Store we stayed by the entrance/exit doors for about 1-2 hours. We made $183! I was extremely happy, and shocked of how well we did in such a short period of time. I didn’t think we would reach our goal but we did and made twice as much as our goal! We have all the money but have not gave it to Siloam Mission. We will sometime during the week. The people who passed us seemed shocked about what we were doing. At the same time, the seemed really glad with what we were doing. There were lots of people giving us ideas on how to attract more people. One man who worked at Super Store told us to say what charity we were giving the money too. One lady told us to write Siloam Mission on our poster. Another lady told us to sing Christmas songs. So we took all of their advice and it did make a difference! The other thing that made a difference was our poster. People would walk by and take a glimpse of our poster. Once they read it they changed their mind and donated. On our poster it said “Make a difference. Pay it forward. We are learning about how one person can make a difference. All proceeds will go to charity” and there was another poster saying it’s all going to Siloam Mission. So I think our act of kindness went very well and I’m proud of what we did.

Part 4:

The idea of Pay It Forward is important because it helps realize that one person can make a difference to a lot of people. I believe that my project did make a difference to the homeless people, because once we donated those money, it helped a couple people to have a meal and have a proper place to sleep for a couple nights.

Olivia's Pay it Forward

Part 1
Pay it forward is helping people without expecting them to pay you back. If the people you helped help more people it's like a chain reaction that gets really big. In the movie "Pay It Forward" a boy named Trevor has a project to try and change the world. He decides to help three people. Then those three people can help three more each and so on.

Part 2
For my Pay it Forward act of kindness, my friends Cathlene Concepcion, Lizelle Scott, and I bought food and donated it to the Christmas Cheerboard. We chose to do this because it's the Christmas season, and some people don't have the necessities they need to give their families a good Christmas. We thought everyone deserves to have a good Christmas and it would be kind and in the moral of Christmas to donate food to help them. We helped the Christmas Cheerboard by donating non-parishable food items to them, we bought the food on Saturday, December 18, and delivered it to the Christmas Cheerboard on Sunday, December 19.

Part 3

Our act of kindness went well, they were thankful that we wanted to donate to them and thought that it was sweet. I felt happy that we had a chance to help by donating food and felt good that what we did would help people. The lady who took the donations from us was kind and nice and she took the donations from us thankfully. I didn't ask them to "Pay It Forward" because I forgot, but I knew they would already do that, because they would pass out hampers to those who need them.

Part 4
The idea of "Pay it Forward" is important because if one person helps someone else, that person helps another, and eventually, if the chain keeps going and people keep helping other people, a lot of people's lives can be changed and we can make a difference for the good, in the world. My/our act of kindness has made a difference because, the food we donated will go to someone who needs it.

I felt really happy because I got to help clean the school I go to and I think my group really help Sonny alot.

How did the person/people react?

Sonny was really happy to see kids working together and cleaning the they go to.

Did you ask the person or people to "Pay It Forward"?
When we cleaned all the places my friends and myself ask Sonny to "Pay It Forward".

Part 4

Why is the idea of "Pay It Forward" important?
I think "Pay It Forward" is important because if we help each we can make the world a better place for the future.

Has your act of kindness made a difference?
I think act of kindness made a difference because it is really hard to clean the school every single even weekends.

Kristel's Pay it Forward

Part 1:
Pay it forward is doing an act of kindness to help someone else and not expecting anything in return. This idea came from the movie “Pay it Forward” In this movie, a boy named Trevor has an assignment to make a difference in the world. So what he decided to do is do something for 3 people. Those three people have to do something nice for another three people, then the next three people do the same thing. As you see the numbers get larger every time.

Part 2:
For my Pay it Forward project my group, Melanie Ilagan, Jocelle Garcia, Allison Manuel and I raised money for Siloam Mission. Everyday weekday we went around Sargent Park School asking for donations and on Saturday we went to Superstore. In return we gave them candy canes and chocolate to thank them for their kindness in donating to a good cause. We decided to do this so we can help other people who can’t don’t have all their needs met.

Part 3:

Part 4:
The idea of “Pay it Forward” is important because it shows us that one person CAN make a difference and nothing is impossible. I know my act of kindness will make a difference as soon as my group and I give the money to Siloam Mission. It will allow a few homeless people to have a meal to eat and a safe place to sleep and a shelter to stay for a while. It will mean a lot to them especially because it’s almost Christmas and everyone deserves to be happy.

Pay It Forward

Part 1

What is Pay It Forward?

Pay It Forward is an action of one individual helping another person without wanting or expecting anything back. Pay It Forward is also a movie where a boy first introduce the idea of Pay It Forward, One person helps 3 people without wanting anything back, the 3 people each help 3 others and so on. This movie shows how person can make a difference and how the idea of Pay It Forward can multiply 1 to 3 to 9 and maybe even t
he whole world.

Part 2

What was your Pay It Forward act of kindness.

My group Lizelle, Olivia, and I thought of many ways to Pay It Forward to different people. Our idea was to bake cookies or/and give out small toys like teddy bears, read a book, and also explain to them the idea of Pay It Forward to children in the hospitals either staying in the hospital through Christmas or their for a small period of time. But one of the workers in the hospital told us that we need special permission to do this activity with the children, and that we had to wait until M
onday or Tuesday for us to have the permission. So Instead we decided to donate food to the Christmas Cheer Board for people who are not fortunate enough to have a good meal on Christmas Day.

Why did you choose this activity?

We choose both of these activity so we can bring joy to people on Christmas Day,even though our first idea was not successful the last went very well.

Who did you help?

In our idea of paying it forward we helped the Christmas cheer board on giving people food to eat on Christmas day.

What did you do?

We donated $20 each for us to buy the food and be able to give it to the Christmas Cheer board.
We bought none perishable foods in Dollarama and some that where found in my house. We brought the food on Sunday to the Christmas cheer board, and gave it to one of the workers who thanked us an also gave us a paper (the one on the video) that said thank you!.

When did you do you act of kindness?

We bought the food on December 18, 2010 and brought it to the Christmas Cheer board on December 19, 2010

Part 3

How did your act of kindness go?

Our activity was successfully and hopefully brought joy to the people that will be receiving food on Christmas Day.

What Happened?

After giving them the foods a lady thanked us with a smile on her face and gave us a paper that said thank you.

How did you feel?

I felt a warm feeling and happiness knowing i helped give a family food to eat that they cannot afford

How did the person or people react?

The lady that thanked us had a smile on her face when she received the bag of foods
Did you ask the person or people to "Pay It Forward"?

No we did not. We told the lady that we had a project called Pay It Forward and we explained the activity to her. She is a person that works to help sort the foods and box them, so I think she already paid it forward to many families.
How did they react to your request?

Part 4

Why is the idea of "Pay it Forward" important?

This Idea is very important because it is helping many people and maybe one day the help or kindness will come back to you.

Has your act of kindness made a difference?

Yes I think the activity we choose have made a difference because it gave families food for them to eat and enjoy! <3

Food we bought.

The Thank You! paper.

Jocelyn leclaire's pay it forward

Jocelyn Leclaire's Pay it Forward!!

Part 1:What is pay it forward?

Pay it forward is doing a good deed for someone and expecting nothing in return. All the grade 8's watched a movie called "Pay It Forward". It was about a little boy named Trevor that gets assigned an assignment to try and change the world. Trevor helps the homeless, his teacher and one of his classmates.

Part 2: What I Did to pay it forward

I gave hampers to families that aren't able to have a christmas dinner or don't have presents for their children. The families that I helped have kids that go to Tec Voc and Know my auntie, which helped with this project by finding kids at her school, that aren't able to have a good christmas. I chose this project because I know that their are alot of kids at schools that have families that aren't able to afford food or presents and because my auntie works at Tec Voc, I thought that it would be better knowing that she could ask kids that she knows are going through tough times. We both donated together, which means that I got someone to pay it forward.

Part:3 What happened when I payed it forward

I know that I did a good deed because of the reactions that I got when I gave the families the hampers. The first family wasn't caught up on paying bills and couldn't afford food, so my aunt and I gave them a hamper and they started to cry in joy. The second family is dealing with the fact the father had just past away and when they recieved the hamper from us they were very appreciative by saying thank you and smiling. The third family had four children, no money, food , or clothes so my Family gave clothes that don't fit us anymore and we also gave them a food hamper with a $50 gift certificate for the Bay.

Part 4: Why is paying it forward important?

Paying it forward is important because the little things we do can change a persons life. I believe that what I did for pay it forward will have an impact on these families I helped because I payed it forward to them, they might do the same for others. Pay it forward could help the world change, if everyone did a little deed for someone else, creating a chain reaction that will spread, making many peoples lives easier.

Karen's Pay it Forward

Part one
"Pay it Forward" is an act of any kindness. Making a person or a group of people happy without anything in return just because. "Pay it Forward" is also a movie when a boy named Trevor was assigned a social studies project and helped out three people and each of the three have to help out three more, it grows really fast.
Part two
For this project I worked with Nikki, we decided to help out the homeless people because we feel really sorry about they're daily lives compared to ours. We donated money to the workers for Salvation Army at Polo Park. On the next day, we made cards there and tags for the candy canes. The envelope said, "Will you Pay it Forward?" then blessings inside the cards and for the candy canes too.
It was already too dark out to hand them out, so Nikki and I just walked to my house for a sleepover and on the way there, we decided to pick up garbage. We got about 2 bags of garbage that were average sizes. When we woke up, we went to Ashcroft and bought loaves of bread and gave the owner a Christmas card. Then we went to Lucky Supermarket for ham, and also gave away the Christmas cards and candy canes on the way.
We made about 30 sandwiches, Nikki's dad drove us to Main street, where the Salvation Army with rooms for homeless to sleep in. We saw a lot of homeless people around the building waiting and shivering, we felt really bad and lucky. We gave them the sandwiches and deer jerkeys, we saw them smile. Nikki's dad barely got pictures because he doesn't really know how to use the camera. We went to Nikki's after and I slept over there, her sister visited so they can see the new baby. Her and her friend were talking about wanting to go Christmas shopping so me and Nikki volunteered to baby sit so they have more freedom to get shopping done.We had fun doing those between December 16 and 18.
Part three

I think our act of kindness went amazing. We put smiles on the homeless people's faces, and somewhat gave them a little Christmas spirit. I felt really happy because when I saw them eating it made me realize how selfish I am when that's all they get. When the homeless people got their food, they were happy and said merry christmas and thank you. With the cards we gave out to random people, we saw them smile and they thanked us. We told them that it would be nice if they Pay it Forward too.
Part four
The idea of Pay it Forward is important because it's the first step of making our world better. It makes people happy, makes their day and they possibly could think twice about how lucky many are compared to the others who have nothing at all.
My actions with Nikki possibly made someones day and got them happy. It somewhat made a small difference in the people's day, and it reminds them that some people still care.

Jayvee's Pay It Forward

Part 1:

Pay It Forward is when you help someone and you don't expect anything in return. In the movie Pay It Forward a student named Trevor had a project on doing something to change the world. He chose to help people that is homeless, his teacher and some of his friends. Now the three of them can help three more other people.

Part 2:

I were giving away cards to people in Polo Park saying Merry Christmas and Happy New Year and tell them that they can pay it forward to other people and then do the same thing. I also donated some clothes at the salvation Army. I chose this activity because this is the easiest way I can help people in my own work. I helped the people that doesn't have some clothes that is a little bit smaller than me. I did my act of kindness last Friday the 17th.

Part 3:

My act of kindness went out really well because we successfully handed the cards that we made and donated clothes to the Salvation Army. I felt happy because when we (Me, Alec, Glenn and Ryan) were giving out the cards, people were happy and saying thank you and also wishes us to have a happy holidays. We did ask the people to pay it forward and they said that they will try to ask other people to do the same thing.

Part 4:

The idea of Pay It Forward is important because in can change peoples lives in just one act of kindness and then the people you helped may do the same thing to other people and change their lives. I think my act of kindness made a difference after donating clothes, we changed other peoples lives because people same as our sizes can wear the things that we donated. Giving away cards also helped people because they can pass the cards that we gave them to the people that helped them in any way.

Carl Jamora's Pay it Forward

Part 1

What is "Pay it Forward"?
Pay it Forward is an idea where you volunteer to help someone while expecting nothing but for that person to help another person in return. This brilliant thought came by 11 year old Trevor in the movie 'Pay it Forward'. In this movie, Trevor's social studies teacher, Mr. Simonet, gives his whole class an assignment to come up with a way that will somehow change the world. Trevor's way of paying it forward was to help 3 people and ask them to "pay it forward" to 3 other people, and at the end they would ask nothing but to just pay it forward.

Part 2

What was your "Pay It Forward" act of kindness?
My act of kindness for "Pay it Forward" was helping the custodians clean the school of Sargent Park.

Why did you choose this activity?
I chose to do this activity because I wanted to do an activity with my friends, and being a janitor is hard because you have to keep cleaning up on a daily basis, so I decided to help out.

Who did you help?
I helped the janitors of Sargent Park School.

What did you do?
Me & my friends were cleaning the whole school, we all split up and had our own duties. I had the washroom and I had to clean the sinks and toilets and did a little clean up on the hallways too.

When did you do your act of kindness?
I did my act of kindness on December 18, 2010.

Part 3

How did your act of kindness go?
I think that my act of kindness went along smoothly. It wasn't what I planned would've happened, everything was fine. I really thought that we were going to have a problem but at the end it was okay. It was exhausting, but we all had fun cleaning up the school.

What happened?

Victoria Metalinos's Pay It Forward

Part 1 :
Paying it forward is an act of kindness or its your given time. In the movie Pay It Forward its about a boy named Trevor that was given a project to change the world. He decides to help three people. Then those three can help three more each and the number of people help can increase.

The first photo is of the clothes i donated. The second photo is of me at the building giving my clothes ( sorry its on an angle )

Part 2 :
My act of kindness was to donate some of my clothes to the Salvation Army. Is chose this activity because i had left over clothes that i don't fit anymore. I felt alright because its nice to know that someone is going to get to enjoy the clothes. I'm not exactly shore about how the person is going to react, because i wont see them get it. No i didn't ask the person to pay it forward. Also i didn't ask them them to pay it forward so they didn't react to a request. I was not able to ask them to Pay It Forward because i went at a late night so i had to drop it off.

Part 4 :
The idea of Pay It Forward is a really good decision because it may make people happy for doing it and for people to be thankful to have it.

Justin's Pay It Forward

Part 1:
To me, paying it forward means helping someone without wanting anything in return. In the movie
" Pay It Forward " a student named Trevor had a project to change the world. Trevor decided to help some homeless person, his teacher, and his friend. Then the three of them can help other people and then the number keeps increasing and increasing helping other people out.

Part 2:
My act of kindness was giving money to Siloam Mission. I chose this activity because I feel sorry for the people in the streets with no home, and it's winter when it gets really cold. We helped the homeless people by giving the money to Siloam Mission, then them putting the money in to good use helping the homeless. We participated in the events that we
re held and learned more about the poverty in Winnipeg.

( Siloam Mission brochures )

Part 3:
My act of kindness went well, we did activities and learned a lot of information about the homeless people in Winnipeg from a guest speaker. I felt happy giving the money to help out Siloam Mission. The person from Siloam Mission looked like he was happy to see the money raised from the people who attended the event. I told the guy from Siloam Mission to pay it forward and he was just smiling.

Part 4:
Pay it forward is important because you can help people out, which makes the people you helped out help out other people. I think that the act of kindness we did has made a difference because we donated money to Siloam Mission.

Hanna's Pay it Forward

Part 1

What is "Pay it Forward"?
Pay it Forward is an idea where you volunteer to help someone while expecting nothing but for that person to help another person in return. This idea was introduced by 11 year old Trevor in the movie 'Pay it Forward'. In this movie, Trevor's social studies teacher, Mr. Simonet, gives his class an assignment to come up with a plan that will change that world. Trevor's plan was to help 3 people and ask them to 'pay it forward' to 3 other people each. Those 9 people would then 'Pay it Forward' to 27 more people causing the amount of people paying it forward to increase and spread out.

Part 2

What was your "Pay It Forward" act of kindness?
My act of kindness for "Pay it Forward" was donating non perishable foods to Winnipeg Harvest.

Why did you choose this activity?
I chose to do this because a lot of people don't have any food to eat and I had food in my cupboard that my family doesn't need. Apparently, my family had to rely on Winnipeg Harvest back when I was a toddler so this is also a way to repay them.

Who did you help?
I helped some families get food to eat on the holidays.

What did you do?
I embarked on a journey through my kitchen, scavenging every nook and cranny of it's cupboards in search of any non perishable foods I didn't need. I then stored them away and brought them to Winnipeg Harvest the next day.

When did you do your act of kindness?
The next day (aka December 18th 2010).

Part 3

How did your act of kindness go?
I think that my act of kindness went along smoothly. It wasn't very exciting though since all I did was drop off some food at Winnipeg Harvest on the way to my mom's doctors appointment.

What happened?
Not much happened. I just hopped out my car, walked into Winnipeg Harvest, put down my box of food, walked outside, hopped into my car, and off I went.

How did you feel?
I felt nice knowing that the food will go to a family that needs it.

How did the person or people react?
The person I brought the food to was glad but she didn't say much other than "Thank you" and "Just put it over there".

Did you ask the person or people to "Pay it Forward"?
I didn't ask her to "Pay it Forward".

If you did not ask the person to "Pay it Forward" how come?
I didn't ask her to Pay it Forward" since I forgot but I don't think I would have to since she works for Winnipeg Harvest, an organization that helps thousands of hungry people each month by giving them food to eat.

Part 4

Why is the idea of "Pay it Forward" important?
I think that "Pay it Forward" is important because people may start helping or get helped more often and people might start thinking of other before themselves more. Also, if everyone keeps on "Paying it Forward" to other people, this idea can spread all over the world and, maybe someday, everyone might see "Paying it Forward" and helping complete strangers as something people do everyday.

Has your act of kindness made a difference?
I think that what I did made or will make a difference to the family(s) that will receive the food since they'll have some food to eat.
