Grade 7 chapter 1 book of intergers : You can use number lines & integer chips. < - means red chip which has the symbol of a positive integer & > - means blue chip which has the symbol of a negative integer. For a zero pair looks like <> When subtracting something that isn't there use a zero pair. (+4)+(-4) =0 : thats how to equal a zero pair. Know becasue we are in grade 8 know more BRACKETS ! So it would look like 4 -4.

Victoria's Term 2 Reflection & Audioboo

Term 2 Refection

Term 2 was not the best for me, thought that I did my total surface area better then everything else because I was able to complete and figure it out easier then the other things we did in term 2. I also had trouble with volume on cylinder and triangular prisms. Next term I will try to do better on my multiplication and to understand Mr. Harbeck more when he is teaching, and to ask way more questions. Another thing have to do better on in term 2 is to try and figure out problems on my own. I percent i learned about b x h divided by 2. And i also learned how to get the percent right for percent. In the area of volume with cylinders I was not to successful with my answers and getting them right, I would always get the formula wrong when I multiplied. The difference between surface area and volume is that, surface area is finding the area and volume is finding the volume of a shape.

A Percent is a number out of 100 or 100% . A hundred grid contains 100 squares, if you fill in 50 squares that is 50%. If you fill in 30 squares that would be 30%

To represent a percent, you can shade in squares on a hundred grid. A completely shaded hundred grid represents 100%. If the percent is greater than 100 you will have to shade more than one grid. To represent a percent between 0% and 1%, shade part of one square from the hundred grid.

4.2 Fractions, Decimals, and Percents

Fractions, decimals, and percents can be used to represent numbers in various situation.Percents can be written as fractions and as decimals.

4.3 Percent of a Number.

You can use strategies like halving, doubling, and dividing by ten to finds of numbers.

To calculate the percent of a number, write the percent as a decimal and then multiply by the number.

4.4 Combining Percents.

Percents can be put together by adding to solve questions.

To calculate the increase in a number, you can add the combined percent amount to the original number. You can multiply the original # by a single percent greater than 100.

Winnipeg Harvest 2011

When all 6 of us kids went with Ms, Hay I was not expecting to do the rice by hand. Because when I went to Winnipeg Harvest in grade 5 we just put the food into boxes while it was moving. This experience was a good thing to do, I understood what Leslie was trying to get out. That not everyone has enough money to provide food and nutrition for their family. One of the fact I learned was that they could only give milk to children under 13 or 12, because they never had enough to provide for other children. Older sibling and parents would have to get powdered milk. When I was packing that rice into a small plastic baggy I was thinking about how this rice can and will make a difference on a child's life. Us 6 kids and Ms, Hay packed enough rice all by hand to be able to feed 360 families. This expiernce had a effect on me. And how I think about people in poverty, and not having the food, clothes and accesories provide for us. But thankfully we have it, and were extremely lucky.

Victoria Metalinos's Pay It Forward

Part 1 :

Paying it forward is an act of kindness or its your given time. In the movie Pay It Forward its about a boy named Trevor that was given a project to change the world. He decides to help three people. Then those three can help three more each and the number of people help can increase.

The first photo is of the clothes i donated. The second photo is of me at the building giving my clothes ( sorry its on an angle )

Part 2 :

My act of kindness was to donate some of my clothes to the Salvation Army. Is chose this activity because i had left over clothes that i don't fit anymore. I felt alright because its nice to know that someone is going to get to enjoy the clothes. I'm not exactly shore about how the person is going to react, because i wont see them get it. No i didn't ask the person to pay it forward. Also i didn't ask them them to pay it forward so they didn't react to a request. I was not able to ask them to Pay It Forward because i went at a late night so i had to drop it off.

Part 4 :

The idea of Pay It Forward is a really good decision because it may make people happy for doing it and for people to be thankful to have it.

Victoria's Math Profile

Hello, my name is Victoria. I am a math student in grade 8. If someone asked me if i liked math would say yes but, i struggle with it. I am not the greatest math student but i like to play with numbers and integers. I remember a time in grade 6 when the whole class had to work together and figure out a question, it was so much fun ! That was an activity that i enjoyed allot.

In in grade 7 i did really good at integers and how you figured them out. Because i have never did stuff like that before. I did well in this unit because after talking to Mr. Isfeld about the integers i really under stood them. Like the mean, median, mode, range, outlier. for this year i could try to understand the numbers that we use and how to use them in math terms.

For grade 8 i will listen and try my hardest to get the answer my self without help from friends and teachers to be successful. I want to learn about integers this year again and about multiplication, and division because i am not to great at that.

Last year i did i think only post 2 blogs. One was about i think algebra and the second one was about what we did for the whole year. My favorite post that i did was telling everyone what we did throught the whole school year on the last of school because i used allot of colors and pictures. Blogging helped me become a better student because i got to go over the work that we did so i had a second look. For grade 8 i want to blog more posts then i did last year in math class.
