2 Minutes Reflection

Here is My groups Google Doc.

Here is My groups First Draft for our 2 minutes to make a difference.

Here us MY groups Final Version for our 2 minutes to make a difference.

In our final draft we changes a lot of information and pictures. Some pictures we took out were the ones that we think that doesn't connect to our topic. Some information we added on our Final Version is by saying what children in child labor don't have for example like child labor don't get any NO freedom and NO fun.

My group did not find a expert, but we tried to find one by sending a message to Unicef and other societies. Mostly all the groups that we sent a message too, all they said was we are too busy.

One of our greatest moments of working on this project was raising money, my group and I raised up to one hundred dollars! By just selling cupcakes and asking people for some donations. Our goal was to get about two hundred dollars but we raised enough.

The most frustrating moment was trying to find out information and trying to get a expert. Finding the information was really hard because we had to go to so many websites and we would find wrong information. Some strategies we used to find the information was to ask the teacher how to be get good information.

Doing this project is important to Grade eight students because we can spread the word around and we can help the people who need help. People are out there struggling and we don't even do anything so we have to spread the word around. I will make a difference by giving away my clothes and toys that I don't need anymore and give it to organizations that need help.

Glenn's Term Two Reflection

Listen!

This term two I really enjoyed it because I finally understand h to find the surface area and the volume. I struggled on trying to figure out which is which. One day I thought the test was about volume but really it was about surface area. I want to improve on getting my test higher and doing my homework. The other thing I want to improve on is doing my blog post because on my report card it said to do better on my blog work. By achieving this goal I will go on the blog every day and check.

Glenn's Great Big Book of Integers

Grade 7 Integers.

Chapter 1
Zero Pairs can be used to solve problems with positive and negative numbers.

'When subtracting and isn't there use a Zero Pair'

A) -3 - (-7) = -4

B)-3 -7= -10

C) 3 - 7= -4

D) 3 + 7= 10

E) -3 + 7=4

Chapter
2
Today we finally learned how to multiply integers.
These are some of the examples we did in our class.

1)(+2)x(+3) = +6
2)(+2)x(-3) = -6
3)(-2)x(+3) = -6

4)(-2)x(-3) = +9
Sign Rule
Odd- When you have an even number of negative factors the product is positive.

Even- When you have an odd number of negative factors the product is positive.

Chapter 3

Dividing Integers
A) 6/2 = 3
3 GROUPS

B) (-6)/(-2) = +3

3 GROUPS

C) (-6)/2 = -3

Chapter 4

(+5) x (-3) + (-6) / (+3) = ?

To answer this question we have to use BEDMAS.

(+5) x (-3) + (-6) / (+3) =
(-15) + (-6) / (+3) =
(-15) + (-2) =
-17

Final Percent Post

What is Percent?
A percent is a number out of 100.
ex. 35% is like 35 out of a hundred.

There is another way you can use percent by sing decimal and percent.
ex. 35 i like 0.35 and 35 out of a hundred.

Key Points of this Chapter..

4.1 Represent Percent
To represent a percent, you have to shade squares on a 100 grid, that is called a hundred grid. When you shade in the whole grid that is 100%. To represent greater than 100% shade more than one grid and then. To represent a fractional percent, you have to shade in between 0% and 1%.

4.2 Fractions, Decimal and Percents
When using fractions, decimals and fractions you can use them for representing numbers. You can use percents as a decimal and a fraction.

4.3 Percent of a Number
If you want to find the percent of a number, you have to put the percent as a decimal then you multiply by the number. There are different kind of ways to do this, one way is to divide by 10.

4.4 Combining Percents
When you add the percents together, you can find some problems. To calculate the increase in a number, you can combine percents amount.

Here is my video, talking about percents. http://www.youtube.com/user/spmath789#p/a/u/1/Z1nVmtZbDxA
Hope you like it (:

Glenn's Pay it Forward

PART 1

Pay it Forward is when you help someone and you don't expect anything in return. When you give the cards to people they might do the same thing to other people and probably a chain reaction. In the movie I watched Pay it Forward, in the movie this little boy named Trevor tried helping three people. My act of kindness was giving out clothes and cards. (Part 2)

PART 2

I choose this first activity because my parents said that, giving out my small clothes to the salvation will help the kids/adults have some clothes. Ichoosed the second activity because my cousins that did this project gave me suggestions and they said they got a good mark. I helped the people without clothes. i did this on the Friday the 17th.

Part 3

My act of kindness went out really smoothly and great, when I gave out the cards and gave clothes it made me feel helpful. When Me (Glenn),Alec, Jayvee and Ryan gave out cards and clothes they all said," Oh why thank you. !" The next thing that happened was my group saying, "Pay it Forward !"... The peoples reaction was shocked and shy at the same time because they had a camera close to there faces. :)

PART 4

The idea of "Pay it Forward" is important because it can change the lives of people these days and it can make people be more nice. I think my act of interest did change some of the peoples interest because it can tell people that you are important in any way.

Alec's Pay It Forward Post

PART 1

Pay it Forward is when you help someone or something but you don't expect nothing in return. In the movie Pay It Forward Trevor has an assignment of what can you do to change the world. What Trevor planed is that he will help 3 people and those 3 people will help another 3 and on and on and on.

PART2

My Pay It Forward Act of Kindness is giving out clothes and merry Christmas cards.
I chose this activity because I figure it out that I have a lot of small clothes that I need to throw away and I think to myself that why not just donate this clothes for the children who doesn't have one. I also chose this activity because I think that we're the only group that give out Merry Christmas cards. We did this act of kindness last Friday December 17, 2010.

PART3

Our project went out well because we hand every single one of our cards and we also have collected many clothes to donate for children and adults who don't have one. It felt good when we hand out the cards because people from the Polo Park say Merry Christmas back and even greet us happy holidays too. Our group asked the people who we give cards from to pay it forward by giving it to someone that did something good to them or to a complete stranger.

PART4

I think the idea of paying it forward is important because it help's us to change other people's live and it make's us more nice. I think my act made a difference because it helps other people's live by having clothes to wear in a cold or hot day.

Glenn's Math Profile

Hello, my name is Glenn Magnaye and I am in grade 8. I like math alot because I enjoy solving fractions, decimals, multiplication, and many more. The one thing I hate about math is that I never get 100% or do a very good job . When Iwas in kindergarden we did math in a super duper different way. We used cubes and erasers, to add and subtract. Once in kindergarden my teacher told me to go with her to do a test. When I sat down I saw dinosaur erasers, I got so scared so I ran back into the room and maybe thats why I dont like math . JUST KIDDING

In grade seven there were alot of math subjects but my favorite was integers . I like integers because theres only a few steps to learn . for example negatives and positives etc. The subjest in math that im not good at is fractions because there are alot of ways to express fractions like mixed and proper. The SUPER DUPER hardest fraction is adding unlike denominators, but I know we have to use math in everything, so we must learn it well .

This year I will try to be a good student by not being lazy, not being late, and listen to the teacher. To achieve these goals is to not be fooling around when the teacher is talking, sit up , and go to class straight . The last thing I want to improve is to make my grades higher and do good on my tests . This year I want to learn the things I will be learning in grade 9 and to learn more about fractions.

In grade 7 my favorite blogs was . THIS CLICK ON IT ! THIS WILL MAKE YOU HAPPY ! I know its not perfect, but I will try doing a better job by looking at the comments . In this post I didn't have a video so my next blog I'll try to put one in . The reason why we make blogs so we can help our classmates who didn't attend the class and when we have our exams we can always check for help . I think by doing computer work it makes it more easy . Last year we did an activity on the computer and it was FUN .
