Here is a website for practice

Cylinder Volume and Volume Problems

Jumbo
V= π.r.r.h
V= 3.14.10.10.40
V= 12 560cm³

Popcorn Lover's
V= π.r.r.h
V= 3.14.15.15.20
V= 14 130cm³

I think that Martha should get the Popcorn Lover's one because it has more volume to get more popcorn.
Inside:
V= π.r.r.h
V= 3.14 .0.4 .0.4 .10
V= 5.024cm³

Outside:
V= π.r.r.h
V= 3.14. 0.5 . 0.5 . 10
V= 7.85cm³

7.85 - 5.024=2.826m³

Justins Great Big Book Of Integers

Chapter 1 Grade 7 Integer Review

Questions:
-6- (-4)=-2
-10+6=-4
6-7-2=1
14- (-3)=17

Multiplying Integers

This question is saying to add two groups of positive 3's

This question is saying to add two groups of negative 3's

This question is saying to take away 2 groups of positive 3's, I used zero pairs to do that.

This question is saying to take away 2 groups of negative 3's, I used zero pairs to do that.

Sign Rule ( negative signs )

Even= When you have an even number of negative factors the product is Positive

Odd= When you have an odd number of negative factors the product is negative

Dividing Integers

If you have no negative or an even number of negative signs in a division question the quotient is positive
Ex ( 6 ÷ 3 =2 )

6÷3=2 <--- share 6 with 3 groups ( quotative division or sharing your total with groups )

6÷ 3=2 <--- how many groups of 3 are in 6 ( Partitive division or making parts )
When you have an odd number of ( - ) signs in a division question the quotient is negative

sign rule for division
6÷2=3 <---- how many 2's are in 6?

-6÷ (-2)= 3 <--- if there is an even amount of negatives the answer is positive

(-6)÷2= -3 <---- if there is an odd amount of negatives the answer is negative

6÷(-2)= -3 <---- if there is an odd amount of negatives the answer is negative

Order of Operations with Integers

(+5) x (-3) + (-6) ÷ (+3)
[(+5) x (-3)] + [(-6) ÷ (+3)]
-15+ (-2)= -17

Final Percent Post

Percent- means out of 100, it can also be written as a decimal or fraction.

Key points of chapter 4

Representing percents- you can represent percents by using a hundred grid, use one grid if the percent is under a hundred. Or 2 girds if over a hundred, to show a decimal you can shade part of a square in the grid.

Fractions, Percents, and Decimals- decimals can be written as a percent or fraction. Decimal to percent is multiplying by a hundred, and decimal to fraction is writing the decimal over 1 then multiplying the numerator and denominator by 10 for every number after decimal.

Percent of a number-you can find percents of a number by doubling,halving, or dividing by ten.

Combining Percents- percents can be combined by adding to solve problems (5% +7%=12%). To calculate the increase in a number, you can add the combined percent to the original number (12% of 100 = 0.12 x 100=12 100 + 12 = 112). You can also multiply the original number by a single percent greater than 100. (112% of 100 = 1.12 x 100 = 112).

Justin's Pay It Forward

Part 1:
To me, paying it forward means helping someone without wanting anything in return. In the movie
" Pay It Forward " a student named Trevor had a project to change the world. Trevor decided to help some homeless person, his teacher, and his friend. Then the three of them can help other people and then the number keeps increasing and increasing helping other people out.

Part 2:
My act of kindness was giving money to Siloam Mission. I chose this activity because I feel sorry for the people in the streets with no home, and it's winter when it gets really cold. We helped the homeless people by giving the money to Siloam Mission, then them putting the money in to good use helping the homeless. We participated in the events that we
re held and learned more about the poverty in Winnipeg.

( me and Riley who works with Siloam Misson)

( Siloam Mission brochures )

Part 3:
My act of kindness went well, we did activities and learned a lot of information about the homeless people in Winnipeg from a guest speaker. I felt happy giving the money to help out Siloam Mission. The person from Siloam Mission looked like he was happy to see the money raised from the people who attended the event. I told the guy from Siloam Mission to pay it forward and he was just smiling.

Part 4:
Pay it forward is important because you can help people out, which makes the people you helped out help out other people. I think that the act of kindness we did has made a difference because we donated money to Siloam Mission.

Justin's Square Root Scribe Post

Show you know:
For each number of the following, use perfect squares to estimate the square root to one decimal place.Check your answers with a calculator

a) ✔
18 b) ✔23 c) ✔35

You can estimate using perfect squares to find the square root to one decimal place like this:

✔18 is in between the perfect numbers 16 and 25. ✔16=4x4 ✔18=4.__ ✔25=5x5
✔18=4.__ because if you multiply 4.__ it equals 18.

✔23 is in between the perfect numbers 16 and 25. ✔16=4x4 ✔23=4.__ ✔25=5x5
23=4.__ because if you multiply 4.__ it equals 23.

✔35 is in between the perfect numbers 25 and 36. ✔25=5x5 ✔35=5.__ ✔36=6x6
35=5.__ because if you multiply 5.__ it equals 35.

Justin's Sesame Street Video Post

Our Math group was Justin and Nicholas

Ratio:

2 term ratio: Compares 2 quantities measured in the same units.
Example: 5:9

3 term ratio: Compares 3 quantities measured in the same units.
Example: 3:5:9

Part to part ratio: Compares different parts of the group to each other.
Example: 7:5

Part to whole ratio: Compares 1 part of the group to the whole group.
Example: 9:30

Rate:Compares two quantities measured in different units.
Example: 72 beats/ min

Unit rate: A rate in which the send term is 1.
Example: 20 km an hour

Unit price: A unit used when shopping, often shown per 100g or per 100ml, makes it easier for shoppers to compare costs of similar items.
Example: $2.19/100g

Proportional Reasoning:A relationship that says two ratios or two rates are equal, can be written in fraction form.
Example: 10 erasers cost $2, how much will 20 erasers cost?
set up:
_________=__________
Here is a link to the video that we chose to do, its about the letter R.

Justin's Math Profile

Hi my name is Justin and I like math sometimes. The best thing I did in math was getting jelly beans for getting a question right in grade seven. I liked this because you get jelly beans. The best unit I studied in grade seven was fractions. The unit that made me struggle the most was adding and subtracting integers. This year I can study the things I dont get so I know what to do. This year is grade eight and I can be succesful by trying my best. This yearI want to learn the knowledge I need to know to keep passing and passing.
