Ryan's Term 2 Reflection

I enjoyed the second term, because most of the units we did was very simple and easy for me. Although I didn’t do that well in quizzes/tests, volume and surface area was fun. It was easier for me to solve these kind of problems, because all I had to do was follow the formulas. These types of problems, were like an incomplete puzzle, where you knew what to do to complete them, and you would have to find each value of the formula, to subsitute them in. However, percents were a bit confusing for me. Other than the hundred grids, I did well. My only trouble with the hundred grids, were that if you needed to represent a number such as 0.06 percent, would you have to draw a “zoomed” version of a square, which was out of 100 squares? This confused me because there seemed like a much more simple way to represent that, without finding an equivalent fraction. Overall, I enjoyed the units we did this term, more than the units we did last term.

Roemer's Term 2 Reflection

This term we learned about percents. I found percents easy because I fund it easy and I think I will do good on the final exam. Also, we learned about Surface Area and Volume. Surface area and volume are our almost exactly alike. Only difference is on surface area, you want to find thetotal area of the shape, but in volume, you only have to find the "inside" area.I found this struggling in the beginning, but not anymore. With a little practise, I got much better. Math is usually one of my strongest subjects, but this term, I think I only got average. Next term, I will work 110% harder by completing homework, and getting better score test.

Ishaka's Term 2 Reflection

This term we learned about surface area and volume. I think I did all right this term because when we were learning about surface area it was kind of hard but when we started to learn volume It was easy. I had great test scores It was probably because I started to pay attention in class. Learning volume was so easy that I didn’t struggle doing any of the work we did in class. Next term my goal is to do more work, and pay attention in class.

Term 2 Reflection

In Term 2 we’ve learned about Percents, Surface Areas, and Volumes. I did well on finding the surface area and finding the volume. The formulas of surface ares are easy to remember so as volumes. I struggled on percents. I had a hard time on changing fractions to percents. I keep messing up my calculating and mixing numbers to other numbers that’s in another column. But once I understand how to change fraction to percent I got better at it. I will do my work to understand the lecture more clearly to get a high grade on my quizzes.

Filimon's Term 2 Reflection

This term with Mr. Harbeck was not a perfect term for me and my grade. I did not do my homework and he yelled at me. I had I lots of fun at Surface Area. I don’t remember what I got for the test and quiz’s, but I had lots of fun even if might of not got perfect grades. Surface Area was fun because I had to fall to get better and I did get better. I did not get AMAZING, but It was decent. I got a 60 something on math, I wanted to do better in math but I just find math boring. Learning area and integers is OK but I never saw the need to use it in the future, because I am probably not going to be a math related worker one day, but if I am will want to learn it in College.Even though I don't like math as much as much as Gym or L.A, bu I can be enjoyable. Thank You for reading my reflection.

Paulo's Term 2 Reflection

This term was successful and bad for me. I did good in volume and surface area because I actually understand it. I did pretty bad in my quizzes/test except for the last test because I actually studied for it, when i started listening to Mr. Harbeck it was pretty simple to do. My goal for next term is to listen and study more. To achieve this goal what I'm going to do is listening and not get off task every time we do work and I'm going to use my time wisely at home to study and do more homework

Jocelle's Term Two Reflection

This term, we learnt about percents, surface area, and volume. I understood all of the things it’s just I wasn’t really focusing on my work and for my recent quizzes, I did really bad because I wasn’t concentrating. This term was fun because I got to learn new things such as doing surface areas, even though I did bad, I tried my best to understand these kind of stuff. I think all of the people from our class enjoyed the things that we did because I don’t think any one of us failed, but some of us got higher marks or lower marks than their first term, but I promise that I will do better next term.

Jocelyn's Term two reflection

This term we learned about percents. Percents were alright they weren't the greatest but I could at least understand what I have to do in order to do good on percents in the final exam. We also learned about surface area and volume. Surface area and volume are sort of similar but surface area you want to find the area of the whole shape, where as volume you only have to find the "inside" area. I struggled with both of these when we first started these units because it was sort of new to me but now I get the hang of it and I understand it better. Math was definitely not the best subject this term but I'm going to work twice as hard so that I'm able to complete assignments and get good test marks.

Nikki's Term 2 Reflection

Nikki’s Term Two Reflection

In term 2 I did not do very well on percent. I know what I did wrong and found my mistakes so I can do better on my year end exam. Total surface area was hard for me at first but after I got used to it and understood what I had to do. I had no problem with volume. I knew what I had to do and did well on my volume test. Math is not my favourite subject, but at least I understand now.

Term 2 Reflection

For term 2, I think that I did the best on is percent because I found it the easiest. I think that I did not do very well on blogging assignments and to improve on that next term, I’m going to try to start commenting again and also spend more time on my posts. What I learned about percents is how to convert it into decimals and fractions. I also learned how to use hundred grids to represent percents and how to use percents greater then 100. I learned how to calculate the surface area and for volume, I learned what volume is and how to find the volume of an object. Term 2 for math really wasn’t very good and I’m going to try my best to improve for term 3.

Lara's term 2 Reflection

What did you do well in this term?
In term 2, I did really well on finding Surface Area in shapes using the net method that Mr.Harbeck showed us. In term 2 I also did well on finding volume in Rectangular prisms, Cubes and Cylinders.
What did you struggle on?
In term 2 I struggled on a few things. Some things that I struggled on were finding the volume of a triangular prism, Due to the confusing formula. Also I struggled on commenting on the blog.
How will you do better next term?
Next term, I will try to do better on my blogging by commenting more often on blog post. Also next term I will concentrate more in class and try to put my hand up to answer a few questions.
What did you learn about percent, surface area & volume.
In term 2 I learned many things about percents, surface area and volume of different shapes. In percent I learned that every percentage is out of 100, And to find a percent you have to use division. In surface area,I learned that every shape has an outline of it, For example, a cylinder is made of a rectangle and 2 squares. In Volume I learned that every shape has a certain amout of volume within the shape, no matter what size it is, there’s always a volume within the shape.

Term 2 Refection

Term 2 was not the best for me, thought that I did my total surface area better then everything else because I was able to complete and figure it out easier then the other things we did in term 2. I also had trouble with volume on cylinder and triangular prisms. Next term I will try to do better on my multiplication and to understand Mr. Harbeck more when he is teaching, and to ask way more questions. Another thing have to do better on in term 2 is to try and figure out problems on my own. I percent i learned about b x h divided by 2. And i also learned how to get the percent right for percent. In the area of volume with cylinders I was not to successful with my answers and getting them right, I would always get the formula wrong when I multiplied. The difference between surface area and volume is that, surface area is finding the area and volume is finding the volume of a shape.

Karen's Term Two Reflection

For term 2 I think I did well on finding the volume on rectangular & triangular prisms and cylinders because I enjoyed working with the formulas and I remembered them quickly. My struggle at the beginning was surface area, I probably would have done better on my surface area test if I made sure I did my homework right because it was easier for me when I found out how to do it the right way. On percents I think I did okay and the main struggle was my lack of effort on the blog, I did things last minute and did not comment as much as term 1. For next term I will do better by doing my textbook and homework book work on time, I will also participate as much as I can on the blog and also do some extra activities to prepare for any quizzes or tests. I learned how to use the formulas properly on volumes and for percents I learned finding the gst and pst taxes and I learned how to work mathematically with 3d shapes for surface area.

Term 2 Reflection

In term two I learned how to find the surface area and the volume of a rectangular prism, a triangular prism, and a cylinder, to figure out the answer to find the surface area and the volume of those shapes we learned the formula’s for each shape such as v = l x w x h. In term two I struggled a bit on finding out the volume of a triangular prism because sometimes I forget to divide it by two, which gives me wrong answers. I think I did well on the unit test for volume and the quizzes for surface area, next term I would like to do well on both quizzes and test and also to remember the notes for whatever unit we are going to learn.

Term 2 Reflection

In Term 2 we learnt about percents, surface area, and volume. I feel I did well on the unit about volume and surface area. I liked these units because I understood the formulas and found them simple to fill in the numbers and calculate the answer. I got really good marks on my quizzes and tests for volume and surface area . In Term 2 I didn’t like some of the tests we had for percents. I did not to bad on them but I feel like I can do better on percents. I also didn’t like drawing nets for the prisms because sometimes I would get all mixed up and draw them the wrong way. My goal for next term is to study more and get the textbook work done so I can get as much practice as I can on each unit that we do.

I also didn’t like drawing nets for the prisms because sometimes I would get confused and draw them the wrong way. My goal for next term is to get the textbook work done so I get more practice on each unit we do.

This term two I really enjoyed it because I finally understand h to find the surface area and the volume. I struggled on trying to figure out which is which. One day I thought the test was about volume but really it was about surface area. I want to improve on getting my test higher and doing my homework. The other thing I want to improve on is doing my blog post because on my report card it said to do better on my blog work. By achieving this goal I will go on the blog every day and check.

For term 2, I think did well on finding volume because i knew how to find the answer. The thing I struggled on was finding the surface area of a cylinder because I couldn’t remember the formulas and i kept leaving steps out. To do better next term I will try to finish all of my textbook homework on time. When it comes it percents, surface area and volume, I forgot how to do percents because I was doing textbook work about it in the Philippines and I wasn’t so sure if i was doing it right. I’ll need to revisit that again. But for surface area and volume, I learned the formulas on how to get the correct answer.

The difference between surface area and volume is that surface area is the area of a flat surface or the outside layer of an object and Surface area is two dimensional. While volume is the amount of space it occupies in an object and it is three dimensional.

This term I feel I did well on finding the volume of rectangular prisms and cylinders. I got the hang of the formulas quite quickly. I also think I did pretty good on the tests and quizzes but I definitely think that there’s always room for improvement. One thing I struggled in was finding the volume of a triangular prism, not that it was hard for me or anything, but sometimes I would forget to divide by two so I would get the wrong answer. Another thing was combining percents because it was a bit tricky especially when the number had a decimal. I would like to comment on the blog more often next term because I usually get lazy and forget about it. I would also like to participate more in class and communicate with my peers about the work we’re doing. I learned a lot about percents, volume and surface area this term such as how to find them, and the different things you can do with them. I learned how to combine percents and how to find the volume and surface area of three dimensional shapes. I also learned how I could use them in different situations. The difference between volume and surface area is the fact that volume is the amount of space an object takes up while surface area is sort of like the wrapping paper of the object, it’s the outside.
