Kristel's Sesame Street Video Post

Ratio:

Two Term Ratio - compares two quantities measured in the same units

Three Term Ratio - compares three quantites measured in the same units

Part to Whole Ratio - compares different parts of the group to the whole group

Part to Whole ratio - compares one part of a group to the whole group and can be written in a decimal, fraction and percent

Example-

Two term -
Yellow candies : pink candies
7 : 4

Three term-
Yellow candies : pink candies : orange candies
7 : 4 : 3

Part to part-
Yellow candies : orange candies
7 : 3

Part to whole-
Orange candies : all candies
3 : 14



Rate:

Rate- compares two quantites measured in different units

Unit rate- a rate in which the second term is 1

Unit price - a rate used when shopping

Proportional Reasoning:

Proportional Reasoning - a relationship that says that two ratios and two rates are equal. It can be writting in fraction form
