Scribe 3 Show You Know Page 84 Page 85 Questions 3,7,12,14

Show You Know Page 84.
Determine the side length of a square with an area of 196 cm2.
196 cm2
/ \
14 x 14
/ \
7 x 2 x 7 x 2
7 x 2 x 7 x 2 = 196
14 x 14 = 196
142 (squared) = 196
or
square root of 196 = 14 (Sorry, I don't know how to put the square root sign)
The side length is 14cm.

3. The factors of 36 are 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 9, 12, 18 and 36. Use words and/or diagrams to explain how you know which factor is the square root of 36.
My answer: The factor which is the square root of 36 is 6, because 6x6 = 36, or 6 multiplied by itself equals 36.
If you want, you could use prime factorization to find the answer.
36
/ \
12 x 3

/ \
3x4 x 3
/ \
3x2x2 x 3
square root of 36 = 6
7. Write the prime factorization of each number. Identify the perfect squares.
a) 42
b) 169 169
/ \
13 x 13
c)256
/ \
128 x 2
/ \
64 x 2
/ \
32 x 2
/ \
16 x 2
/ \
4x4 x 2
12. Determine the square of each number.
a) 3(squared) = 9 / 3x3 = 9
b) 18(squared) = 324 / 18x18= 324
14. Determine the side length of a square with an area of 900cm2.
square root of 900cm = 30cm / 30 x 30 = 900
I am sorry for the lack of pictures, I had trouble uploading. I managed to upload one though. Also, if the spacing is weird, sorry for that too.
I found this video about prime factorization. Hope it helps anyone who was confused about it. I know it helped me. :)

Reminder: Tomorrow, we have a math quiz. It will be about square numbers, roots and perfect squares, if you have all textbook pages complete, you will understand what to do, the quiz will be based on them. Good luck! :)
